Dear Friend,

I was looking at a USA Today paper back in the winter of 2004 at my favorite restaurant, Burger King, and I had an epiphany. (a grand discovery!)

As I was sitting there enjoying my bacon double cheeseburger, I saw an article about how podcasting was gaining in popularity like blogging, but instead of just using words on a website, AUDIO messages were involved. The article was about the GODCAST PODCAST.

Not only were some listening to this podcast, but other audio shows were coming out and gaining popularity, like Adam Curry's "Daily Source Code."

Being a former Youth Minister, the concept interested me, especially since the title of the podcast the article was about was the Godcast Podcast!

I also noted to myself, that podcasting was so new that it would probably explode over the net so I had to find a way to enter this niche and find out how to make my own shows.

Internet software creator Armand Morin and I were having a conversation about podcasting, and he introduced me to two people who I eventually interviewed and I began my quest for how to build a podcast show and get it published on the web. With their help, I began learning how to podcast for myself.

I also did research and found out there was not very many resources to help people learn how to create their own shows. As there was also information scattered all over the web that was not very organized.

It was actually confusing to know what to do, with so many variances about tools, systems and technologies, and what "this person" said or this other person.

I discovered a "definitive, simple and easy tell all resource" was needed.

So I created Podcast Secrets Revealed. 

I was the second person to publish an e-book on podcasting in the entire world in May 2005. And people have really enjoyed learning from this guide ever since, because I always keep it fresh and update it regularly. Currently we are in 3rd revision.

Details About Podcasting

Before podcasting, internet radio listeners had to tune in to scheduled Live programs or retroactively search for individual broadcasts to download.

Like a TV Show or Radio show, you had to be present live in real time to get the content.

Podcasting is like using a VCR, you listen to what you want to hear,and play it when you want to watch it.

That is exactly what podcasting is like but instead of TV, it is an audio file.

This may sound technical at first, but it really is simple, easy and fun to do.

Podcasts offer the unique feature of being delivered automatically to subscribers,right into their media playing device by  auto synching to their media player, which means...(sorry for the "geek speak") the content file, which is (any digital file) an mp3 audio file, will get "dropped" right into an iPod (mp3 playing device by Apple), through their iTunes (the software developed my Apple to move files into the iPod) synching software.

And incase you are wondering, podcasts don't play on just iPods, but on ALL mp3 media players.

Once a copy is stored on the listener's computer or portable music player, podcasts can be "time-shifted," or played at any time, but most importantly,taken on the road as a mobile audio message, as people are using portable mp3 listening devices now, more than ever.

Some compare it to a TIVO device that records TV shows while you are out,so you can watch them when you want.

With Podcasts, you get the content automatically downloaded to the place or device you specify, and then consume it.

The rising popularity of podcasting also stems from the ease with which podcasters can create and distribute files and the amount of iPod like mp3 media players cropping up all over the country.

This is amazing stuff and I believe iTunes and Yahoo Podcasts have really helped the podcasting revolution grow by letting millions of mp3 audio fans listen to or watch shows on their tiny mp3 devices that are the size of a pack of gum.

The process requires little more than a computer with an internet connection, a microphone, software to record, edit and compress the audio,and some beginner knowledge about publishing files to a website through ftp. (if you don't know how to do that, don't worry, this resource will show you how).

Once that is done, the next step is to publish your podcast on a website and create an RSS feed your listeners can subscribe to.

Finally, you want to get it listed in major directories with "tags" so people searching for your topic, name or show will find you easy, like on a search engine.
